Organic

There are four levels of “Organic” labels available in the U.S.

100 PERCENT ORGANIC

All ingredients and processing aids must be certified organic.

ORGANIC

Only up to 5% of non-organic ingredients that are allowed by the National List can be used.

This is usually applicable, if the equivalent organic ingredients are not commercially available for the production of the product.

MADE WITH ORGANIC

At least 70% of the ingredients must be certified organic (excluding salt and water).

SPECIFIC ORGANIC INGREDIENTS

Products that haven’t been reviewed to be qualified as organic, can still list specific organic ingredients that were used, which can include any combination of organic and inorganic ingredients.

NOTE: Certified organic products do not contain genetically modified ingredients.
